We have now gone green at Discovery Home Builders. Our subdivision in West Asheville, Westwood Heights, is now a HealthyBuilt/EnergyStar/Green project.

What is "Green Building" Anyway?
"Green building" is sometimes referred to as "high performance building" or "sustainable building." It means that energy, water, and materials are used efficiently during the construction and lifetime of the structure; the health and productivity of occupants is supported; and the impact of the structure on the local and global environment is minimized.
What this means is a whole green approach to building. Not just an energy efficent home. We also take extra care not to waste materials and resources when building. By using land in the city to build upon we are not contributing to the "urban sprawl". There are many dimensions to building a green home.
